Today was the Catalyst Bike Ride for '09. In perfect weather, Richard, Eric and I headed out to Castle Point.

I managed my first wheelie, and first touchdown on the ninja, all in the first hour. Over in the Wairarapa, it was so hot we were at the point of speeding just to cool down. I ended up riding with my jacket half open, it really was that hot.

Castle Point looked just like I remembered it, and then even better because of the beautiful weather.

On the way back, we stopped at the top of the Rimutaka Hill, along with a stag-party bus. The poor subject of the party had a ball and chain on his foot, and was throwing up. He was also only in his underwear. To the party's delight, he ended up mooning cars coming past, which was about the time we decided to keep moving :)

Great ride, good times, maybe we'll do another one this year and drag some more people along.

So there was this guy. And he bought a really nice motorbike with his hard earned money. And everything was good, until Boxing Day 2008, a couple of weeks after he bought it, when a guy in a Chubb security van decided to attempt to reverse over it.

Now this guy has a bike with a broken mudguard and an unknown mechanical condition. Also, a wait until EVERYTHING FUCKING OPENS AGAIN so the insurance people can start hassling the other insurance people and some lucky bike shop can do a second-rate repair job.

This guy is pissed, as you may understand. So be nice to him. OR ELSE.

A couple of weeks ago I got a new motorbike. It's a Kawasaki ZX 636 '06. In Awesome Green. I don't have a photo of it yet but here's one from google.

I sold the Xelvis, which should help pay for the outrageous amount of insurance I'm paying on the new bike.

I was thinking about getting a couple of Mahara decals and sticking them on the back. Then maybe finding someone who is an expert at these things to thrash it round a track, so we can get some cool pictures.

On second thoughts, given my insurance costs, maybe it's cheaper to photoshop some decals on to some other bike.
