I've been asked by a couple of people now about the "image" block in Mahara's new views stuff. People have been dragging the image block on to their views, and surprise surprise it's simply printed "whee!". These things happen in alphas - proof of concept code does end up in the release. My work over the last few days has been to make this block more useful, here are some screenshots so you can see how it's going to behave (click the screenshots for a larger view).

This is an empty view with the "Files" tag selected (we've been dumping all the available blocktypes in this tab for funzies but there'll be more tabs all with content in the final release). If you drag the 'Image' blocktype down on to the centre column, you get...

This, which is the configuration form for the image block type. Each one has a small thumbnail beside it, and you can page through the results:

Currently there is only three images listed on each page because I was testing pagination.

You use the radio button to pick one of them, choose whether you want to show the description, and save the block. And you get this:

Anything that allows me to put penguins on a page is a good thing :).
